Trouble shooting tips for automatic watering systems

Wet Topsoil: Signs of Over watering, a more common occurrence

• Do not remove the rubber stopper more often than is necessary to check water level. This will will lead to over watering!

• To correct this issue, firmly repack the topsoil.

• Check to make sure that the rubber stopper is securely tight in the fill hole. Tug slightly to test it. If loose-push it in, twist, tug and test again.

• Make sure that the clear sensor tubing is attached to the pot as well as solidly planted in the soil.

• Allow the topsoil to become dry to the touch before refilling reservoir.

The water reservoir level remains full between fillings:

Signs of Under watering: a less common occurrence

• Look for signs of water stress wilting leaves, brown leaves, or yellow leaf drop.  Test the moisture level at least 2" below topsoil for moisture (the plant may not have needed water).

• Check to make sure rubber stopper is tightly secured inside the fill hole. Slightly tug the rubber stopper to test the fit. If loose-push it in, twist and tug again to test. Needs to be tight to function properly.

Jump start the watering system

• If dry, top water slightly around the rubber stopper and clear sensor tubing area of the soil to moisten soil mass. Do not over water. This should jumpstart the system and return it to normal functioning.
